Q2 2023 Connect Business Consulting Newsletter

Updated: Sep 1, 2023

Wishing you a happy Spring!

It's been a busy 2023 for me, and it's been my pleasure to carry out an expanded national role to help build the next generation of tech professionals. Connect Business Consulting LLC project-manages the STEAM & Dream Summits in Atlanta, Phoenix, Milwaukee, and Chicago. With support from our sponsor, American Family Insurance, our teams made a difference for our youth at two Summits in April. See the photos below from Atlanta and Phoenix. Coming up: Summits will be held in Milwaukee in August and Chicago later this year. As always, I am so grateful for support from my family, friends, and business community. I couldn't do it without you!

BUSINESS FOCUS: STEAM & Dream Summit in Atlanta!

STEAM & Dream Summit in Phoenix!

The Phoenix Summit on April 21 used the timely lens of Earth Day to explore topics such as: Performing arts, tech, financial literacy, social entrepreneurship, plant DNA, and reflections. The "teen genius," Dorothy Jean Tillman, led 200+ teens in celebrating the Earth while participating in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) at Arizona State University.

MKE Black

Connect Business Consulting LLC continues to project-manage programs for MKE Black as we serve the Black business community. The "Pitch Black" information series kicked off in February, covering Business Plans, Market Analysis, and more while building a community.

Participants gain business insight, networking opportunities, and actionable takeaways to use as they advocate for their business interests. Lots of energy in the room!

MKE Black also presented a "Buy Black" Marketplace at Fiserv Forum with 30 local Black businesses. Watch for more Marketplaces this summer!

'Tell Me Everything' Podcast

A Summit colleague, Nadiyah Johnson, and I were interviewed on SiriusXM's podcast, "Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang."

John's incisive questions got to the heart of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in STEAM and why I am so proud to work on STEAM & Dream. Go to the 30-second point and listen!

John is a New York-based political commentator, comedian, TV and radio personality, performer, and writer. He was the host of "America's Funniest Home Videos" and has appeared frequently on news commentary shows on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News and NPR. Recently, he was the host of Current TV's "Viewpoint."

Kenge Connects

Thrilled to step up and serve Tempo Milwaukee as the co-chair of the Programming Committee! So inspiring to be part of 700+ women forming a Milwaukee community to increase the impact of women leaders.

I believe in giving back and serve on the Boards of Bublr Bikes, Woodlands Schools, and Sherman Phoenix Foundation.

Great networking at MMAC's Business After Hours! I'm all about growing my network and helping others to connect.

Kenge's Journey

I'm in my third year of owning my business and often receive requests to share my story. I started Connect Business Consulting LLC after working for about 20 years as a Project Manager for large corporations and being involved with various community organizations.

I decided to bridge these groups and help nonprofits, who typically don't have Project Management experience, to implement their community programs. I want to be the translator between corporations and nonprofits so community groups can show their results and continue their funding.

A new perspective was vital when starting my business. My first career in Project Management existed in budget and time constraints, and I worked with those necessary limits for 20 years. However, in my new perspective as a business owner, I have learned to replace the OR with the AND.

I started living my life as an AND. I launched Connect Business Consulting LLC from that growth mindset. I will soon speak and post more about my journey and support others as they start theirs. Stay tuned!

Connect Business Consulting, LLC is the project management and relationship bridge between community and corporate partners, making social impacts for a stronger community.
